151. Primary Color

There were tons of humming birds flying around our cabin in Colorado (and you all know my fascination with hummingbirds)!  My boys and husband made homemade hummingbird feeders and filled them w/ a hummingbird recipe we found.   It took no time for the hummingbirds to find the feeders, they sure do seem attracted to the color RED!

  1. Great shot! Obviously I need more red around the house. So far this year only 1 hummingbird.

  2. Pretty! We have a red-filled hbird feeder and have only seen one bird so far…send some our way if you have a few to spare! 🙂

  3. great capyure, I want to se those live to!!!!

  4. Womderful shots Tammy but that looks like Red Cordial to me, the know-alls say that feeding that to children makes them hyper and causes ADD, so aren’t you worried about those birds? If their wings go any faster, won’t they catch fire just through friction?

  5. Feed them and they will come. You really caught him well. I like to see the movement of their wings, if only we all had that energy.

  6. Both of these are great especially together. So that’s the trick, huh? Increase the size of the red area to really get their attention.

  7. Nice shots….so…whats the secret recipe? Care to share?

  8. Tammy, these look like they belong in an outdoor store. This is such a novel idea and the images are outstanding.

  9. Fantastic shots – and how sweet of your guys to rig up the feeder so you could get some shots!

  10. What clever guys you hang with! Be sure not to go more than 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, don’t want to over dose the little dynamos.

  11. Inventive solution your boys provided! And a great shot too….

  12. Well how cute is that! Good things for boys! My son is really good about making bee traps to keep the bees out of my feeders. 🙂

  13. Wow! and agree with all the other comments.

  14. What a great idea!! How fun this must have been! Love the detail you captured by having them so close. That red does really attract!

  15. wonderful shots, we don’t see hummingbirds here so it is always lovely to see everyone’s photos of them.

  16. to take photo of birds is very very difficult…I have taken some last week and gave priority to the bird also…the focus…but most of the times I dont get..nothing….good like yours
