84. Young and Old

I still remember this little guy when he was really little, boy is he growing….mamma and baby Orangutans….I love how he is looking at me…”I dare you, come and get me”!

Camera: Canon XSI, Shot in manual mode, Lens:  55-250mm, Focal Length:  250mm, Aperture F/5.6,  Shutter Speed 1/100, ISO 800      Processed in PSE:  Adj levels, upped saturation a bit, used the dodge tool on the bottom limb and cropped

I had to include one more close up of the baby….isn’t he cute….

  1. Well, I dont know if cute is the right word……..
Very nice shot of a close relationship between young and old

  2. You must be on the board of trustees by now. LOL

    Great images Tammy.

  3. A great capture for this theme. Your zoo shots always capture such wonderful facial expressions that show such personality in the critters.

  4. Just right for upcoming Mother’s Day! Mom’s protection. Great portraits, Tammy.

  5. Orangutans a contraction and mispronunciation of two Indonesian words :- Orang = Person (Man) and Hutan = Jungle so an OrangHutan is a man of the Jungle is all. An old Indonesian Tale relates that when the Dutch came to the Archipelago, all the Indonesian people got together and discussed the problem. The Orang Hutans decided not to talk to them, and they haven;t for over 400 years, you can see that wisdom in the eyes.

    • Interesting…I always want to know what they are thinking, there is so much expression in those eyes (as well as wisdom)!

  6. Such gentle eyes – and that first photo with the hug is the perfect Mother’s Day photo! 😉

  7. *awww* How cute can a monkey be???

  8. Looks like he might be saying “Oh no…you again and that darn camera!!”. Great image. You capture a lot of expression on his face.

  9. Lovely little family! What a sweet photo.

  10. Yet again you have made such a fine image at the zoo. Jens is right, you at least ought to be on the board..

  11. My favorite is the bottom image, Tammy. I love the detail in the fur. The baby’s expression is priceless.

  12. That look of security on the little guy’s face is just endearing.

  13. These are so good Tammy, the second portrait is incredible, just makes your heart melt.
