47. Floating

While I was walking over one of the bridges in the jungle at the zoo, I noticed this white leaf just floating leisurely down the stream.    I thought how I would love to be that leaf just floating without a care in the world….just sometimes that would be so nice!

Camera: Canon XSI, Shot in Manual mode, Lens:  55-250mm, Focal Length:  171mm, Aperture F/5.6,  Shutter Speed 1/60, ISO 400     Processed in PSE8:  Adjusted levels, topaz adjust – clairity – just to the leaf and adjusted the leaf layer to a 50% opacity, some burning as well.

  1. Wow! This is so interesting on so many levels. I love the curve in the leaf and the veins….very cool.

  2. Great capture Tammy. How did you get the bubbles in the background??

    • not bubbles…I had a pleasant surprise when I put this on the screen – huge bokeh! The little “bubbles” you are seeing are rocks.

  3. a pretty capture 🙂

  4. Lovely image, Tammy!

  5. VERY nice! It has an ethereal quality to it.

  6. Great catch, Tammy! It looks like it has been gold-plated. So pretty….

  7. Great Bokeh and contrast on this! What cares could you have three blokes to look after you, BTW when does the soccer season start up again? LOL

    • LOL Ron….try outs were yesterday…the year anniversary of Corey’s broken leg…they find out today what team they made….here we go again! 🙂

  8. Love the color, the leaf contrasted with the bokeh. It looks like it is floating in air. Curvature of the leaf adds drama to the shot. For some reason, I put in mind of a ballerina. This is a classic and needs to be hanging on your wall somewhere. Lovely.

  9. Beautiful, very dimensional. The leaf makes a nice shadow and the bokeh is wonderul. Great contrast also.

  10. Beautiful relaxing image. Love the colors.

  11. thanks everyone! 🙂

  12. Wow, this is gorgeous. I love that soft light, and the framing is perfect. Well done.

  13. Tammy this is amazing….you have to frame it..I would print it in a smaller size in a BIG matted frame.
The silvery colour of the leaf is lovely.the curve, the texture and the water all come together so beautifully

  14. What they said! This really is beautiful Tammy. So well seen and well shot!

  15. Oh my! How did you DO this??? It just speaks serenity. The leaf looks like it’s floating, barely in contact with the water, simple existing in its own plane.

  16. Love the softness with subtle textures, and that lighting….wow!

  17. Just stunning – and absolutely frameworthy as has been mentioned. It pays to keep your eyes open and your camera handy!

  18. What a stunning image! I love the contrast between the leaf and the background. It certainly conveys the feeling of floating. Beautifully done.

  19. I think this image deserves a frame and a wall to hang on :o)
