42. Children’s Toy

Power Ranger to the rescue    (hmmm….maybe that should be Buzz Lightyear….but all I had was a Power Ranger)!

Camera: Canon XSI, Shot in Manual mode, Lens:  18-55mm, Focal Length:  55mm, Aperture F/5.6,  Shutter Speed 1/15, ISO 400     Processed in PSE8:  Adjusted levels, converted to black and white but brought a little color back through, some cloning and burning, added a gaussian blur to the background

  1. It’s YOURS, I just know it is, come on, out with it.

  2. Cool! I love the way you processed this – great result!

  3. Very powerful indeed. Where`s Judge Judy, I think he caught my chin, medical bills to follow.

  4. Tammy,
First, I have to apologize for not having visited your site before. For some reason I didn’t have you or Jessica loaded as part of my group. Then I read the spotlight on Jessica and it said she was in our group so I went looking to see how I missed her only to discover I hadn’t added either of you. 😦

I’ll make up for it over the next week or so… 🙂

Second, I really like the way this came out. I think I’m going to be come a fan of the gaussian blur. I also like that you brought some of the color back in.

    • NO need for apologies! I’ve done that before too! No need to make it up either…and thanks so much for the comments!

  5. This is definitely an action figure–it almost looks animated!

  6. Hi Tammy,
Definitely a power ranger! They are so poplar now with kids. I have one little guy at work that has them all. Have a great day!

  7. Nice action shot, Tammy! Nice technique to make the photo b&W and then bring back color. I’m going to have to try this!

  8. OK – this is just fun! Great processing!!

  9. Hmmm. . . where did you get a Power Ranger at your house???? Great image. I love the monotone composition.

    • LOL Clara, when the boys were growing up they were huge power ranger fans, I found I couldn’t (you notice I and not them) part w/ their power ranger collection! 🙂

  10. Thanks for posting all you do with a picture to get the look you have. I am learning more from seeing what other’s have done than from reading the manual!

  11. Great shot. I love the tones you used! and also the blur you applied. He looks ready to sock someone in the nose!

  12. Nice! i love how the fist is the focus. Can you tease your boys about having had dolls?!

    • Oh we do that all the time! One year my dad even got them a Barbie birthday cake – you should have seen the look on their face LOL

  13. Haven’t seen one of those in forever! I do like the selective focus here.
